Honey Stinger Waffles
I love these waffles. I use them always while I am on the bike and they were a major part of my nutritional regime during my Ironman training and racing. They are delicious, easy to eat and come in many different flavors, including gluten-free and for kids. The one thing I love about Honey Stinger is that they easy on the stomach because all HS products are made with honey!
Honey Stinger Chews
These are a delicious option for training with as they are made with Honey, are easy on the stomach while running and I don’t suffer from any GERD which is wonderful. I love the Pomegranate Passion flavor but they have a ton of different options that are separate from the norm including Pink Lemonade and Grapefruit.
CLIF Bar Gels
If you are not a fan of the drink mix to replenish your glycogen storage, then these are the next best things. I usually eat these while training as well as when I run my half or full marathons. They give you that extra boost of energy and you can taste the sugar immediately. If you are looking for a good Gel, I enjoy the Clif Shots in the flavors of mocha and chocolate. They taste much better than the other flavors and they don’t always upset your stomach.
The Chews are easy to take in and are a great alternative to the Gel’s if you are not a fan of them or do not like the taste. I also like the sizing of the new Chews bags instead of the older Chomps which were larger and bulkier. These are simple, small and fit great in my tri-suit and on the bike.

Originally I wasn’t that crazy about the flavors and how liquidy they felt. After GU rebranded itself, I was very happy to find that they actually tasted to have substance and weren’t as liquidy in comparison to previous models. As a result, I was very excited to try all of the flavors especially the chocolate ones.

Recently I decided to dive into the Bonk Breaker energy bars as I was in training for my 70.3 and I have to say I love them. I was hesitant at first because I tried a flavor I didn’t like, but this time I tried peanut butter and jelly and I love it. By far my favorite flavor and I highly Suggest trying them. While doing my 70.3 my stomach was uneasy already and so eating gels was all I could handle but thankfully so were these and they helped immensely. I suggest the peanut butter and jelly flavor but definitely give bonk breaker a try.
