It’s called the Ooho. It is water enveloped in some sort of gelatinous casing that you can eat or put in a composting bin. The inventors created it with the intention of getting rid of the need for water bottles. Going all environmentally friendly, that means less plastic in our oceans!
Because the membrane is made from food ingredients, you don’t have to throw it away. FYI- It doesn’t have a natural taste but remember you don’t have to eat it.
When people try it, they want to eat it because it’s part of the experience. If you choose to peel it off, it will be like peeling fruit. But I have a feeling it may be easier just to deal with it on the race course, eliminating the need for cups! Instead of trying to deal with drinking water out of a cup whether by slowing down, stopping on the side or pouring some on your head and the rest in your mouth, the Ooho will be much easier because you can just grab and pop it in your mouth. Need more water? Grab 2!
Maybe Gatorade should get on this bandwagon for the sports drinks on the course as well. NO MORE STICKY FEET FROM SPILLED GATORADE!
Personally, I love the idea of this and would love to try it out! But I think London Marathoners may be the first to try as the inventors are from London.
