The weather is warming up, the flowers are blooming available for sale in the grocery store, and daylight savings time is amongst us. Which means we are back to racing season! For those of you who have spent the past few months training to get ready, congrats! You made it! Ok but seriously let’s get down to business. This spring I have already a couple of races on the schedule with two still to be determined depending on $$ and time. But for those who may still be looking for races, check out my list below!
Ann Arbor Half Marathon
My mom back in the day ran a metric marathon in Ann Arbor which no longer exists so we decided to find another one in the city during a month where it wouldn’t be snowing. This race in early April looked like the perfect option. You run all throughout Ann Arbor starting by the Big House (Michigans football stadium). While there, I plan to visit Zingermans Deli which I have heard great things about and let mom take over of the touring duties.
Pikes Peek 10K
This is a local race for us here in DC and with a net downhill, so many PR worthy? I thought it might be cool to try a 10K race since I haven’t done one in awhile and by a while I mean since 2010 when I first got the racing bug. That and the boyfriend wanted a warm up before Indy.
Indy Mini Half Marathon
This race I am especially looking forward to because it will be a family affair. Mom, bro, bf and myself will be heading to Indy to take part in it. The race takes place through downtown Indianapolis with a 2 mile run around the famous Indy 500 track. Indy is a flat town so I am excited to see how it goes being a super flat race. If you are racing it too, check out Sun King Brewery, an awesome local brewery on the north side of town that offers free tours.
Virginia Wine Country Half Marathon
Come June, I am switching it up from the brewery to the vineyard with Destination Races. This one takes you out to Virginia wine country with a run starting at Doukenie Winery and taking you throughout the local town, past a vineyard that will be handing out wine to end back at Doukenie for a fun wine tasting.
Escape The Cape Sprint Triathlon
My first triathlon of the season! This race I am very excited about because it involves jumping off of a boat into the Atlantic Ocean, biking and running through Cape May, NJ. This race is put on by Delmo Sports, who is putting on Ironman Atlantic City 70.3. His races are always A+, run incredibly well while constantly informing the public of need to know information.
What races do you have on deck for spring?
